Scottish slate roof.

Hi

Is this a normal slate roof ? What type of slate is it please ?
It leaks like a sieve. Been told that a lot of it's old as there's
horse hair underneath the slates.
Looking for a rough cost for a refurb per m2.
Slates off, sort any sarking, quality membrane
and slates back on replacing any broken.

Looks like ballachulish slate..

Bit pointless using breathable membrane when slate is getting nailed directly on sarking boards, 1f underslating felt is more practical in your case.

You would be best finding small local firms to estimate after inspecting the timbers, condition of slates etc.

The slate will have to be re-dressed and then re sized once they have been taken off you will also aim to get one side out of the two sides so your gona be at least short of slate for one side
