I have removed my old finish floor board and came across some type of asphalt/cement mix slab 90mm thick. Black colour

As this is a little bit uneven and would like to have a finish level all around the ground floor I have started to get someone to quote me for a screeding.

I never thought this would be a mammoth task as everyone has got different opinion but nobody want do the old school sand and cement. Most push for self levelling compound and price for 45sqm at 30mm is around 1300+vat.

This sound a bit higher to be honest. What your opinion and what would be the best option for a think bonded screed to use as base for wooden finish floor and tiling.

Thanks

That must be the tarmac that bobasd referred to ( hasn't been around for a while) Self levelling 30mm is thick - is that for a specialist pumped liquid screed ?

Would you do it in cement sand?

Just need some screed to make the ground floor one clean level
