I am due to have laminate flooring laid in a few weeks and need to sort out an uneven floor that previously had carpet/underlay on top of vinyl tiles in one area and concrete in another (the room is actually 2 areas combined into one, when the adjoining wall to the old coal shed was knocked down to bring that space inside).
When the floorer came round the carpet was covering most of the tiles and as it looked level he advised to leave the tiles down. However when removing the carpet fully, I found many of the tiles cracked so I decided to remove them.
This has left a level difference between the tiled and concrete areas (concrete is about 3mm higher as it previously matched the level of the tiles).
I am wanting to screed both areas and wondered if I can do this at the same time, or if I need to bring the previously tiled area up to the level of the concrete first, then do an overall layer 2nd after the 1st dries?
Also do I need to fill the gaps around the edge of the room (between floor and skirting board) to prevent the liquid screed seeping under & away?
Thanks
