To copy the window or screen contents
To copy an image of the window that is currently active, press ALT+PRINT SCREEN.
To copy an image of the entire screen, press PRINT SCREEN.
I have 'PHOTOED.EXE' -Microsoft Photo Editor- comes free with Windows 98, others?? This sits on my 'desktop' screen. (Easy to use, not mired in controls and settings not required for our current purposes)
Having selected the screen or current window using 'Print Screen', enter Photo editor - which will be blank - and hit <Edit> <Paste as new image>
One can then 'crop' the picture as necessary using the 'select' tool (broken lined box) to surround the required portion of image, <select> <copy> <paste as new image> gets you a second screen holding your required - cropped image... With the original intact on screen image-1.
Select 'save as', file extension .JPG you will notice on the 'save as' menu - 'More', this leads to a slider control which will reduce quality and image file size .. surprisingly 50% works ok most of the time (experiment)... Have a play it is worth it.
See the difference in saved file size twixt .BMP and .JPG image latter at 50%...
