screen turned itself round

Hope someone will be able to help me..... basically the screen has turned itself round 90 degrees and the touch pad is working in the opposite it should be, very annoying!

Its windows xp if that makes any difference.

Some adaptors/monitors have the ability to display in a kind of portrait mode, where you can swivel them through 90 degrees. It comes with software which causes allows the display to match the monitor position. It is possible that you have, albeit inadvertently, switched the software to this mode.

Have a look at your monitor setting to see if this is the case. You may find an icon on the taskbar which allows you to adjust the setting.

Make and model of laptop please....I know Dell laptops have a key to allow you to rotate the screen.

Igorian, thanks for the reply ive tried looking under taskbar menus etc, nothing too obvious at the moment.

Have a look in the user manual for a key sequence. Failing that you may need to be in the control panel for the video card that's in the machine to change. Have a look in the Windows Control Panel to see if you have an icon for your graphics card control panel...my icon for my desktop PC's graphics card is "NVIDIA Control Panel" for example....in here you may be able to set screen rotation as I can. Looking at the Tosh website your lappy could have either an Intel or NVIDIA graphics card.

my AGP card came with weird software to tinker with the appearance, including two screens.

From background of desktop:

right click

properties

settings or something

then maybe advanced

Thanks guys you were both right, was an option from desktop-right click under graphics options. Would never have found it in a million years.

P.S wanleg, you gave me advise couple of weeks ago about having trouble downloading video clips, in the end i just renewed the user accounts and so far its been ok. Dont think i replied to the last post, so thanks for that.
