I have just got a herzo drill bit set and it has 2 plastic 2screw finders" I don't know how to use them so if anyone has any info I would be grateful also is there any point to them or are they just a useless accessory

I had two in with a bit set years ago .I never used them but presumed they were to stop straight bits slipping out of slotted screws .

just found a herzo drill bit set on amazon. i would agree and say keeping the flat headed bit on the screws

For general work, yes, but slotted are still very much de rigeur on a listed building or a "retro" fit out.
