i have to replace some of an originbal cornice round a chinmey breast

i have a replica cornice peice being made, but i need a tip on hgow to scribe the new peice of cornice into the old existing peice

the cornice is known as victorian run - if thats rings any bells.

A Mitre joint would mean cutting the mitre on the existing fitten cornice which seems to me tricky whereas scribing a new peice up to it would avoivce that cutting.

any ideas

pretty much the same as a normal scribe cut at 45% at the correct angle to what it is fitted [like your doing an internal mitre]
as in dont try cutting it with the flat at the back flat on the saw unless your doing a compound mitre

highlight the edge between the cut edge and face cut along this line
