A steel universal beam with a newly skimmed ceiling on each side was going to be cased in timber, as a fake beam. So the ceiling skim stops at the UB.
However, the plan is now to clad the UB in plasterboard, and skim it in with the ceiling. Obviously the best time to apply scrim tape, at the join with the ceiling, would have been before any skimming was done. Can the scrim now be applied over the existing skim, for the plasterer to feather in, or should some of the existing skim be removed first, so the scrim can more easily be buried?
Thanks
