Hi,

Anyone know what happens if you forget to tape the joints of a plasterboard wall before platsering it?

Are the joints likely to crack? Is it worth tearing down the wall, or can I just scrim the cracks and re plaster or something like that?

The wall has not cracked yet (plastered a week ago), so I am hoping to get away with it, but does anyone have any experience of this?

Cheers

Any idea what to do to correct it then?

I could replaster the wall now, or rip it down (not my preferred option), or wait and see, but by then I will have installed a bathroom in front of it!

Eventfully it will have a hairline cracks, either remove plaster where the joins is then tape + re-plaster, it going have to be a very good repair if you're going to paint the wall which might be otherwise noticeable.

if you can see all the joins then i would be inclined to tape over the existing, polybond and skim the whole wall again.
even walls that have been taped sometimed crack so i don't hold too much hope of this not cracking in the future.
