I'm considering an SDS - one reason being for the rotary stop hammer action to remove a ton of tiles from a bathroom.

I'm thinking of a ton budget - can maybe stretch to £150 with a bit of overtime.

There are loads in screwfix etc - what can you guys recommend? Also what about the different weights?

Thanks

2kg drills good for doing loads of drilling and some chiselling, 3kg better at chiselling but a bit more unweildy for drilling, 4kg and above just too heavy for loads of drilling but better at chiselling. I'd stick to an industrial from a known maker, Bosch blue, Makita, Atlas-Copco/AEG/Milwaukee, deWalt, etc (my non rotation-stop Bosch blue is nearly 20 years old and unkillable).

I've got one of those unkillable Bosches too!

However, I saw a DeWalt on special from Screwfix that was £155 but down to £79 with a free set of drill bits thrown in.

I only got it today but it seems pretty good. It's probably a model that's about to be updated - but who cares? It'll last a DIYer about 20 years.

It's the 2.3 kg model.
