Hello All,

I've just cut the work top in our kitchen to fit a new gas hob. I've 'dry fitted' it and all looks good.

Am I correct in thinking the hob needs a seal to the worktop? If so what type is needed as I have looked in the usual DIY stores but found nothing.

TIA, Jim

BTW I am getting a CORGI fitter in to do the connection, luckily all pipes are in exactly the same place as the old ones so all that's needed is for the compression fitting to be re-connected and tested. Any idea of what this may cost?

when ours was done it was just clamped in (from underneath) and a bead of silcone run round the edge

as for cost see item 9

Putty tape is ideal, try plumbing merchant if no luck with DIY stores

Thanks,

Item 9 noted ;) .

So the seal doesn't need to be a special heat-proof type or anything?

Seal usually comes with hob. Different manufacturers use different types.
