Seal this soil pipe

I did my first bit of tape work today…
It finished up a bit messy but I think that’s because I went to early and didn’t wait for the primer to fully dry on that final coat.

I am now planning to do the same for two remaining soil pipes, rather than using the retrofit boots.

One of my soil pipe looks like this:

I think the general guidance is to go 70mm up the pipe but with this one, would it be advisable to stop just below the collar of the elbow join near the deck or is this too close to the surface? Going above this means that I need to mould the tape around that lip. Worried that this may get messy.

Can you please advise. Thanks
