I'm replacing my bathroom door with a brand new untreated pine door.I've noticed marks on the existing briwaxed door probably caused by the condensation/steam in the air due to the lengthy time my son spends in the shower.

What's the best way to treat the door to repel the shower steam

hi,1st treat any spots on the door were there are any sap points leaking if any, then sand down the door, either varnish it or a gloss paint.

As MHTILER says I'd seal in any resinous knots or sap with a clear shellac solution something like Transeal or Granwax barrier seal. Then if you after a satin or matt finish apply a waterbased coating. They are quicker drying, won't go the yellow way that varnish does and you're cleaning all the brushes etc with water. They are also widely used on floors which highlights their durability

Just another alternative.
