Just fitted a new suite. I've tiled the room, floor and walls, in full. WC and sink are in and look great.

Now, do I go round the edges of the toilet (back to the wall type) with silicon?

Same with the sink, do I go round the edge, that meets the wall, with silicon?

What do you guys normally do?

Cheers

I always run a bead of silicon, stops a buildup of soap/water/p**s. Use a sanitary silicon as this contains a fungicide to help stop meldew.

Jasonb is right, make sure you use the sanitarty sealer type, dont get fobbed off with the other so called kitchen/bathroon mastic's.

The one dubbed "technology beyond silicone" 30 yr g'tee, Unibond I think, is remarkably good at looking good for a long time. I used in in my kitchen 10 years ago and its still bright white even where it gets dirty. Many "trade" sanitary silicones do discolour.

The trick to putting it on neatly seems to be to keep your finger OFF the stuff! DOn't put much on , and use a bespoke tool - or the corner of a credit card to make a neat join, unless you can do it straight from the gun.

I'll get on with it then.

i personally prefer not to silicone..dont like the look. u could always make sure its cleaned properly?
if u do silicone and run into a mess..try washing up liquid and water (small amount in a cut 50/50)..dip ur finger in this and then get stuck in with the silicine...clean finger regularly and re dip..
the washing up liquid stops the silicone sticking to ur finger
