Sorry about that, it's working again now.

Could we have the option to sort the posts by time rather than supposed relevance back, please?

The results are sorted first by relevance, then by date. You can limit the search to shorter periods though.

Which is not very useful. But I suppose I should get used to crippled search functions on sites..

What are you having trouble finding? Do you have an example?

Not off the top of my head. I simply find the lack of any sane order to the results to be counter-intuitive and annoying.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't want results to be ordered by relevance to your query.

Perhaps I'm searching for a topic from say, six months ago, with a very limited set of criteria. Rather than simply head back a few pages to the appropriate time, I get to look through a massive list of essentially randomly ordered results.

I'm not sure why you'd consider that a good thing, and even less sure why you'd remove the option for sorting. Removing choice from the user is not a good thing. I have dumped entire OSes for such things.

The results are not randomly ordered, they are ordered by relevance to your query! The ability to order purely by date has not been removed.

I can however see where you're coming from now with your explanation. I will look in to how this could be incorporated in the future.

With a limited number of search terms, you cannot effectively sort by relevance. When you end up with several thousand results, the order may as well be random, as it's certainly no use in locating the result I'm after, and is a hindrance.

I see no option to change the order of search results within the search form or the results page.

Rule #1 of search engines: You will never, ever, EVER know better than the person doing the search what he wants to do.

Searches can now be ordered by time as well as relevance.
