Hello,

I have had my seat Ibiza 1.6L Diesel FR (2015) for 3 years, it's at around 90k miles.

The past month or so my car doesn't have power steering once it first starts, the warning light is active. It'll then kick in and the warning light will go off after anywhere between 20 seconds to 5 minutes.

I took it to the garage and they diagnosed that it was intermittent loss of coms with PS module.

Error codes:
System: Data Bus OBD Interface
Code: 01309
Description: Power Steering Control Module
Status: No Signal/Communication

System: Instrument Cluster
Code: U111100
Description: Function Restriction Due to Missing Message
Status: Passive/Sporadic

The garage couldn't do the repair and the specilist they use couldn't confirm if they could fix it, so sending it off to check would take my car off the road for over a week and cost a lot.
I have found a 2nd hand power steering pump on Ebay with part code 6R0426156B. Do these pumps have to be coded to work within the car or is it just a straight swap?

Appreciate any advice if possible.

Thank you

I'd find a better specialist rather than resorting to part swapping. A quick Google of that code seems to show no mention of the pump being a cause - more often wiring faults or module itself which unfortunately is part of the rack. Don't know where you are but maybe try somewhere like Darkside Developments or a similar VAG specialist.

Thank you for your advice, trying to fix this issue while keeping it as cheap as possible doesn’t seem to be easy. The power steering has now gone completely, so I’m just driving the car without it. Is there any tests I could perhaps do to confirm it’s the unit itself as a part swap is going to be a lot cheaper than seeing a specialist.

For context, the garage wanted 500-700 to send the unit/module off and have a specialist attempt to repair it. They also said if I found a 2nd hand unit they’d replace it for me

That's often the best outcome. Trying to fix an intermittent fault can be a nightmare. I've sometimes found the fault won't happen when there is an expert in attendance.

I've also found dedicated car make forums very helpful, because some owners will have had this fault before and fixed it. Good luck.
