Hello can anyone suggest a quick and easy way to remove tile cement/adhesive from the back of some floor tiles I have just bought. Cheers.

You could try soaking them in water which may help depending on what the original adhesive is, if not it’s going to be an angle grinder job. I assume they are something special & justify the work?

Thanks Richard I'll give the soaking a go. The tiles are not that special but at £20 for 30sqm cant grumble

brick acid is good at removing cement based tile adhesive.

But it will obviously depend on the whether the acid reacts with the tile itself.

Our victorian style hall floor had been over tiled and when i stripped it i used brick acid successfully to remove the cement based adhesive.

No experience in this particular instance but I'd be concerned about a possible reaction between the new tile adhesive & any acid residue on/in the back of the tile.

i would 2nd and 3rd Richards concerns here, just give them a good soak and scrub, if that fails prepare yourself to spend a while with the grinder
