secret nailing - good or bad

i have a fair experience with wood and laminate flooring.
but never used secret nailing.
any ideas for pro and con.
my friend did this and when the floor contracted and expanded some boards cracked. how was this . what is the cure?

The boards cracked? in the center or the edges or did the tongue snap off maybe?

What sort of cleats was used? Was the boards face nailed?

Craked in the centre and edges. How do you start and finish nailing

As above post, type of nails etc and maybe didn't use the floor clamp to tighten the t&g together? Also was it nails on the tongue side?
