Hi all

how much do i need to worry about the distance from the wall to the soil pipe of the pan in referance to the cistern??

ie the soil pipe coming out our wall is 170mm from the wall, and has some sort of sealing ring on it, its old and metel, but alot of the modern toilets with inbuilt cisterns have a set limit to how far they can be from the wal, obviously the cisterns bolt to the wall, but it seems that most are 140 or 160 mm distance from the back of the cistern to the frount face of the soil pipe on the pan, obviously this has never been an issue before as it used to be a high level, but the toilet has a blockage possibly in the soil pipe from the wall and it seems to try and flush about a billion gallons, so want to replace. but don`t want to buy somthing that doesn`t fit.

any ideas??

cheers

You probably, if its old, have to modify the soil pipework when you fit the new toilet.

The blockage will need sorting too, it might be best to renew all piping going into the stack for piece of mind.

Worth getting someone in :D
