Monitor.
Printer.
Sub Woofer.
Computer.
Fine with 6 socket extension lead. Nicely arranged where feet never tread.
End of session, close down PC, switch off at wall socket.

Along comes the router.
Need to leave it 'on' due to possible wireless network users.

End of my session - switch off each item on extension board - except router.
Bit of a pain, but hey-ho. Along come the other non wireless users, selective switching far too much trouble... need an answer, not happy with multi way plug in adaptors, not an option.

Found an 8 way extension gizmo.
Two banks of 4 sockets, 2 permanent sockets on/off via wall switch.
6 remaining sockets have one marked as master, 5 slaves.

Plug PC into master socket.

Plug Monitor.Printer.Sub Woofer. into slave sockets

Plug Router into permanent socket.

Extension 'recognises' when PC switched on/off, switches slave sockets to match.
Router stays on until extension switched on/off at wall.

Works very well with TV and accessories too.

Neon indicators and surge protection.

I just have a switched double socket on the wall with 2 x surge protected extension leads plugged in, the PC & monitor (via UPS), printer, network switch, etc plugged into one and the items which are left switched on all the time i.e. router, NAS into the other.
