We are laying two concrete floors an a barn conversion. The original plan was to lay the concrete then power float to a polished finish. With 320 square meters to lay and polish we have found that getting the labor needed is almost impossible (the barn is in rural France).

As an alternative we are thinking of using Lefarge Agilia self placing concrete, this should give a smooth surface but not polished and tightened like with a power float. I was wondering if using a surface hardener (lithium silicate) would be sufficient to get a similar look and finish as a floated floor.

Any experience or opinions would be great, also sealer recommendations.

Thanks
Nigel

It's about £150 per cubic/m I believe.
Seems like an expensive gimmick made from chemicals for those without the necessary equipment, skill or experience to handle real concrete.
Have you considered pumping?

Would a gypsum based screed not do your job?
Then try a cost comparison.

Why do you need a "hardened" finish?
