Series RCDs

I'm planning to install some underfloor heating in my bathroom, I'll run a spur from the existing ring main. The Consumer Panel is protected by an RDC and the ring is protected by a MCB.
Is it necessary to install a separate RCD to protect the ring or the Spur? Is the existing consumer Unit RCD sufficient protection?

If the RCD is of an appropriate sensitivity rating and it does indeed protect the ring where you want to take a spur from (it may not), then why would you need another RCD?
