I am looking to have an integral garage converted into living accommodation.
The garage, as it stands, is used as the conduit for many of the services (gas, water, central heating, electricity) to reach the other rooms in the house, with pipework/cables running along one wall of the garage at various levels.
I get the impression that it is normal to just put plasterboard over these services as they currently lie. The current garage floor level is around 150mm below the house floor level, therefore there may be scope for a suspended wooden floor.
This worries me as any problems / leaks / modification required will require the wall to be removed to repair.
Can anyone please advise what would be the normal (or accepted) way to treat services behind a new plasterboard wall.
Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks ...
