There's not really a lot to service, the moving parts are packed with grease at manufacturer and if anything breaks inside then you just replace the gearbox if it's removable, if not then the complete locking strip is replaced
Thanks crank39, that is my understanding - I'm looking to confirm I'm being reasonable in refusing to pay a locksmith over £100 for a "gearbox service" when it seems ridiculous to me to service a part that costs £30.
