Servis W Machine Backfilling???

Hi

if our servis millenium series goes unused for a couple of days, we notice the drum begins to fill with water. this cam to a head yesterday when we forgot about this problem, and having been away for a week promptly opened the door and gave our kitchen floor an impromptu wash!!! I have cleaned out the front filter, but anyone got any ideas?? servis technical were no help at all (- other than pay for an engineer)

if it's clean water it will be one of the valves stuck open. If you turn off the isolation taps that will prove the point. ( so long as the taps are working ) /////////////if it stops filling then you will need to turn on one tap at a time to see which valve is faulty. Replacement is pretty straight forward as a rule. It's the bit the flexible red/blue pipe is connected to on the back of the machine!

Failing that, if the water is noticeably dirty, it will be because the drain pipe is connected under your sink and is filling the machine as the sink is emptying. If that's the case then you just need to hook the grey waste pipe up higher behind the machine than it is at the moment, so that the water can't get into the machine from the sink.

If you decide to take the lid off, please remove the plug from the socket before you start!

edit. you have been away I note so the valves are more likely the problem, unless someone has been sneaking in to empty your sink for you.

Looks like a vavle problem to me as well. One thing to check is your water pressure. Washing machine valves as a general rule are held CLOSED by the water pressure of the inlet pipe and are opened by allowing the pressure to equalise between the inlet and outlet of the valve. When this happens a spring opens the valve and the water flows.
If you have any bits of grit in the valve it will leak. If you replace the valve make sure you refit the fine mesh filter in th end of the feed hose. If there is none fitted get some......
