Servis washing machine reset problem

I'm having trouble reseting my Servis washing machine, possibly a M6 series unit.

Obvious solutions like unplugging for several minutes do not work,
the start light just continues to blink.

Short of taking the top off and resetting the PCB manually, has anyone got an alternative solution?
