It's been a while since I last posted a topic on here. I have lived in this semi-detached bungalow for 6 years now, & have to say that I am annoyed & embarrassed with myself for not noticing in previous years, that my neighbour shares my gutters & down pipes. My son has cleaned out the gutters for me in the past years & also my conservatory roof. Last year my neighbour's son asked if he could clean out my gutters too (never thinking for one minute, that what he was doing, was actually cleaning all the rubbish from his mother's roof into the gutters & then flushing it all down my drain pipes & into the soak pits from the down pipes. I thought he was doing me a favour, but, when he had finished, I noticed that he had not cleaned my gutters & my conservatory roof was now filthy dirty with all the roof rubbish. I left it, as my son was so busy at work & winter was getting closer by the day.
Can I quite legally put end caps on my sections of gutters & only allow my water & whatever debris in to my soak pits.
Are there any legal implications should I do this?? I have read my surveyors report when I bought the property, but, there was no mention of shared gutters & down pipes. I have owned many properties in my life & this is my first encounter with this situation.
Any advice would be gratefully accepted.
Many thanks
