I am getting a drive way built soon. And there will be double skin walls on both sides. One of the neighbours have a single skin wall on their side. If I build my double skin wall next to that, firstly I won't look as good (the wall is quite old) and secondly I will be loosing a bit of space. I was thinking of asking the neighbour, if they would be ok with me dropping their single skin wall and rebuild a double skin. So the wall would be half on their side and half on ours.

Could such an arrangement cause any issues in the future?

Is it worth asking, or should I just build next to it?

If you build next to it you run the risk of their wall collapsing into your foundation trench.

I'd go round and ask.
