Sharp Television 66ES - 27 inch with surround sound - dead?

The television has died. The 3 amp fuse on the main board blows dramatically when plugged in.

Any ideas or do I scrap it?

Sounds like an old set...Replace it.
I wish my TV would break down. Dont like replacing just for the sake of it.

You have a very heavy short circuit probably in the power supply part of the tv. if fauult occured in any other part of the tv it would normally close the power supply down without blowing the mains fuse ending up with just a dead set or the tv not coming out of standby. As for repair there are too many components which can go short circuit and it will take a tv technician with fault finding equipment and circuit diagram to repair. Not a diy job unfortunately.
