Must be a sign of the times mate but new saws are cheaper than sharpening the old ones....if it must be done, seek out the services of a saw doctor - they'll see that the tooth set or kerf is right, as well as sharpening the teeth.
John
I tend to use a set and files on the saws that I sharpen, these being a half rip , tenon , dovetail and a couple of panel saws. I do like most people use hardpoints as well which are very useful on old work where hidden nails are often encountered After we have used them the masons often use them to cut out ashlared joints which does kill them off. . However, long term I still think that they work out expensive, ajrobb mentions a new one every fortnight which at £5-8 a throw soon outstrips the hundred or so for a decent diston. Here's a few links that may be off some use or help. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VINTAGE-ECLIP...t=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item3a5eecb1f9
