Hi apologies if i am getting too basic here but I am building my own shed and need to know what should I fix my shed base frame together with? I have a load of 4" x 12 (zinc coated I think) screws, so it would be handy if they were ok, but I wondered whether I should be using coach bolts recessed in maybe or timber construction screws or something similar.

As I say sorry if this question is a bit basic but I have never built a shed before. I am building it much stronger than normal with bigger timbers and because the ground slopes where I am putting it, I have put concrete blocks and leveled them. I had some timber already so just bought some to add for the frame and it is 2"x6" for the perimeter timbers, but I will only use 2"x4" for the cross pieces. I have treated the timber as well.

Any help appreciated.

The screws would probably be ok. Most commercial sheds don't get them this big. Put some pressure behind them so they drive further into the wood.

joist hangers will help..

decking screws might be better for corrosion resistance..

with that size of screw it will be a great advantage to drill pilot holes (though lots of pros would not bother as it takes extra time)
