Does anyone know where I can buy a sheet saw? (For cutting through thin metal sheeting).

Sheeting as in corrugated cladding??

Evolution make a metal cuting circular saw which will cut cladding sheets. I think they even sell them in B&Q and machine mart now.

Or is it flat sheet? Maybe a nibbler is another option

Let us know what the job is and may have a few better options for you...

If its a hand saw you want then its called a "shetack" saw, used to be made by Monument tools but I think its out of production you could try e-bay. Mine is not for sale :) You were too late for this one

It's like Jasonb's 'Sh*tack' saw, but with a straight steel back. A bit like a short woodsaw, but with a thingy at each end of the steel backing to hold a hacksaw blade. They were all the rage in the days of corrugated iron, when they were the only tool you could sensibly use to cut the stuff. I need one to cut (manually) some thin steel sheet. Also good for laminate, as you can use 32tpi hacksaw blades.

That's a pity, a useful saw, why stop making them :?:

Can't find one yet

There is a nibbling tool you can use, you know the one I mean? With a tooth that goes under the sheet, and a jaw on the top? Hand-operated and electrical ones available.

Or a pen cutter

(this is for very thin sheet like cars are made of)

Because a plasma cutter is much more fun to use ;) or one of the 1.0mm blades in an angle grinder run against a strip of wood gives a reasonable cut.

The one in my link will work fine for flat and corrugated sheet materials.

Seems a lot of hassle for the sake of a simple saw. I only have a small job to do.

Have you got a jig saw, clamp a bit of wood to the metal to stop it flapping around and use a metal blade in the jiggy.

That's the Shetack variety. Not quite what I was after, but I suppose it will do half the job. It's not so versatile, as the angle between the blade and the workpiece is limited by the triangular back, and the triangular back still has a strengthening rib (like a tenon saw), so you can't bring the blade square to the workpiece as you might need to do if you are cutting to a vertical face.

The sheet saw my Dad used to have had just a flat plate (like a saw with no teeth) to support the cutting blade.

I'm gonna give up on this.
