I want to fit some shelves at the bottom of my lads bed. As there is only one adjacent wall, I would like to run something like a 2 chrome poles from floor to ceiling, then fit shelves from these poles to the nearby wall.

I've looked in B&Q and they have the poles I am after, and end fittings for the floor and ceiling. I can't think of any way of fitting the shelves to the poles though.

Any ideas?

The alternative would be to use timber or a piece of contiboard, which I don't really want to do.

wire - what's the dia of the chrome verticals? (approx)

shelves will be about the width of a bed and probably 12 or 15 inch, enough to get a play station, TFT tele etc.

another choice i frequently use
if its a bunk bed is to secure it to the wall in at least 4 places and use the beds end supports or legs to affix a batton to and use this for support

you can also affix brackets to the legs off the bed for a playstation shelve but make shure theres a 2"[44mm] edging around the edge to contain the machine the games and the crisps drinks and snacks that will be placed on the "table"

Bri - try google for your local shop fitting firms for clamps, brackets, etc. for your type of installation. The clamp below could be used to attach a cross-member tube between your 2 uprights to support the shelves (25mm dia). These firms have loads of unusual/interesting tackle for storage solutions (lots in very nice chrome).
