Shiplap external timber supplies

H

HiZ

Hi,

I am looking to repair a few of the rotten boards around my shed. Its shiplap style about 5" I think. Any ideas where I can buy this from in 8' lengths? Checked with a local timer supplier but they only had it for internal cladding use. They couldn't suggest anyone locally who may have it.

Any suggestions?

Regards Nathan

I've been searching for a supplier of shiplap cladding in Central Scotland without much success. Keyline was the only one I found and I think they are a bit pricey. I'm looking for about 220 metres. Can anyone help with this?

Thanks big-all. I can't think of any off hand but I'll have a look through the yellow pages.

if i remember they wernt that far from the royal rowing boat [if its still there ;) ]

look at the port of leith area salamander st off the links

I think Brownlees used to be there but I can't think of anyone else and neither BT or Yell list anyone in that area :(

I had hoped that I might be able to build a reasonably substantial 10' x 8' shed for around £400-450 but I don't think this is going to happen

ok sorry your having no luck i must admit its 5 years since i last looked

heres 2 lawsons in sighthill [where i spent my first 15 years in the timbers in sighthill rise ;) ]any way lawsons in surrey do shiplap so assume they do as its the same company

my shed is 12x10 internal shiplap cost me around £245 for260m treated [12 x 110mm coverage [16x125]

Thanks again big-all. Lawsons gave me a quote for the rest of the timber but not the ship-lap so I assume they don't stock it. I haven't tried Braemount yet.

What size timbers did you use to build the shed?

I like the idea of the access doors to the roof area where you have your timber. I also like your double doors!

all timbers where 3x2 at 2ft spacings [treated underfloor]
the "A" frames for the roof are between 2ft and 4ft centres

all the flooring and roof where where built from 9 sheets of 18mm ply the cost of these surprized me though  at £182

Here is a quote I received today - I thought the shiplap was reasonable but overall it's much more than I had hoped to pay

Material Qty Unit Rate Unit Total
45 x 145mm C16 Reg'd & Treated 6 4.8m £205.00 per 100m £59.04
38 x 89mm CLS Treated 36 4.8m £129.00 per 100m £222.91
9mm OSB 2400 x 1200mm 4 sheets £7.55 sheet £30.20
18mm F.E. Plywood 2440 x 1220mm 3 sheets £24.50 sheet £73.50
12 x 113mm Whitewood Shiplap 27 m2 £6.85 m2 £184.95

Sub total £570.60
Vat £99.86
£670.46

go for 3x2 sawn much cheaper or 3x2" treated at £1.46 including vat per mtr they may have to rip 6x2" down the middle but a lot cheaper
i used 86m for my shed [walls and roof]that was just enough and cost £90

shiplap -----------------------£242
3x2" treated [floor bearers]--£28
3x2" structure-------------- £90

9 sheets 18mm ext ply-----£190

total ---------------------------£550

other bits of 2x1 3x1 4x1 treated for edging corners roof edging ect about another £50

forgot to say these prices include an extra 10 percent discount
i also paid extra to have the shiplap pressure treated [also included]
