Short combi boiler

Hey all,

I have a customer who insists on changing his floor standing boiler for a combi, i have good width and depth but need the boiler and flue to fit under a work surface, within a gap of 78cm (height). Anybody know of a combi that will allow for this, including clearances/ pipe access etc?

Oil or gas-fired? Either way I don't know off the top of my head, but this info might make me more inclined to help you Google

Have been having a GOOGLE but searching by height doesn't do a lot, any searches of small seem to bring up people talking about slim boilers.

Thought it may have been a problem somebody had encountered before.

I (am an electrician) have wired up a Glowworm Flexicom underneath a work top before, not sure if it complies etc as its not my field

unfortunately the ideal isar is the only boiler I know of with minimal clearances, but then you would be better off installing it in his bin, would save you a job for later.

It's not just the height of the boiler which has to be taken into account but also the clearance the manufacturer requires below the boiler. Some need 250mm or more!

flexicon has a back flue not top so its a good choice

Flexibom needs 150mm clearance at the bottom and is 700mm high, total 850mm, so it's not suitable. Still haven't found anything that is.

What about a Worcester Floorstanding Combi, as it is floorstanding it is designed to be serviced from the front (can't believe I'm recommending a worcester though...but it might be the best boiler for your needs)

If you fit a wall hung boiler near the floor there's every chance any future service engineers will hunt you down and make you wear it I've had to work on flexicoms fitted inches off the floor, its enough to make a grown man cry

yeah i did mention that in the first post, and thats whats making it a bit long winded, looking through web sites trying to find clearances etc.

All my work is on a sub-contracted basis and 80% of the time i'm supplied with Vaillants (don't have much experience with other manufacturers) the clearance is usually 20cm underneath on those. and some of the websites don't include a height once the flue is attached.

just going to have a browse at the few you guys have mentioned, couldn't see the isar on their website when i was looking a minute ago?

the height on those is 85cm i'm working with 78ish (diary put away)

the guy has convinced himself he wants a combi, in this exact space. If i cant find something appropriate, i think he will end up finding another company who will give him what he wants regardless of clearances. Sometimes building quotes can be a pain in the backside!!

Maybe you will have to tell him to move it or end up with something carp.
