I am mounting new (metal) light fittings which need to be earthed (the old light fittings had a simple live and neutral and so the earth cable was cut right back). I now need to resurrect the supplying earth cable although have no spare cable to pull from the wall! Is there a way of earthing the fittings without pulling my wall apart? I have heard that you can simply earth the fittings onto a screw in the wall, although presumably this would need to be well hidden, and where would any leaking electricity go to? Would my whole wall be live?! Please help!
