The thing is, whenever these events are canceled, its never to do with the HSE or safety officers.
Its always some faceless, spineless person 'deciding' that there is a remote chance of something happening and then requiring all these risk assessments and insurance cover to protect themselves from being sued.
Its really the lawyers and the sponsors of the "no-win no-fee" claims who are to blame. Its nothing to do with safety
I wanted to go to the Gloucester Cheese rolling event this year, but recently heard that it can not go ahead due to St Johns not being 'insured' to work on the hill, only on the level ground at the bottom. How bizarre is that?
I mean, how long has this event being going on, and everyone knows you'll probably get injured, but no one is deterred from taking part.
