Assumed tiler would just tile on this, but read it needs to be tanked.

Do i just paint on a liquid tanking solution?
Is this stuff ok? It's it just like paint? Never done this before!

Hardibacker should be tanked if inside a wet area such as a shower. Paint on systems are fine for this.

Most paint on systems require 2 coats. Paint in opposite direction for each coat.

Any brand will do?
Watched a few videos.
Ones used prinlmer then 2 coats, another no primer.

I've already ordered some "HardieBacker Alkaline Resistant Fibatape 15m x 50mm", and just ordered some Aquaseal Waterproof Tanking Membrane (as I can get it delivered tomorrow, hopefully!) - is the hardiebacker tape to be used with this?

Also, what is the best way to seal up these gaps? Can I just tape over them and paint he sealer on, or should I fill with foam first? Or something else?

and another question ....

After I stick on the hardiebacker tape over all joins, around pipes, corners etc. can I paint the tanking solution straight onto this?
