Hello,
I've noted a number of hairline cracks appearing on plaster on a wall that shares a chimney with our neighbour. Most of these appeared after we had the walls replastered: but recently there are some more cracks that have appeared on the first floor. These are relatively long (1/2 the height of the wall).
The neighbour recently had some kind of stove fitted.
I decided to check the attic just to see if I could see anything obvious in the chimney breast there. Access is a little awkward, but the picture attached seems to suggest there is some cracking on the chimney, and there also appears to be some soot(?) that has escaped onto the relatively newly laid insulation below. What do people think? Any help greatly appreciated.
