Hi all

The cable on my shower cord has snapped, so I’m looking for a replacement. I’ve looked online and have come across 45amp, and 50amp switches.

I am gearing towards the 50amp MK cord switch, is this a good one?

Many thanks

Have you considered fitting a new cord to the switch ?, On some switches this is an easy low cost repair.

MK stands for making carp these days
"Mucho Krappo". A long time ago, up till say early 70s MK was often considered the best (there Logic rand sockets were only SP switching though, whereas Crabtree were DP switching) , but things went downhill and they live on their historical good name and that held them in good stead for many for quite a few years, eventually folk began to realise though. They look very nice and sleek I`ll give `em that, but not good IMHO.

with some shower switches I think a length of chain would be better as I sometimes feel like the string will snap as the switch mechanism is so stiff.

I would go with the Crabtree round 50A switch, but if you want a square one, Click do a decent 50A switch. Both these switches have two screws per terminal. This will help make a better connection.

As a DIYer I've recently fitted the Crabtree shower switch which is recommended above. Its a very solid unit and there's plenty of room inside for the cables, unlike other switches I've come across.
