Hi there,
wonder if anyone knows what this shower problem could be. Its a Triton ivory II shower bout year and half old that started cutting in and out intermittently. When its working the pressure and heat is fine then it stops, power lights out. wait thirty seconds and it turns it self on, a few seconds later off again etc. my original thinking was that this could be the solenoid valve but then I noticed that when it cuts out also the double pole light goes out? Am I on the right track or is it more likely to be a neutral short? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated as its thirty quid wasted if i replace the solenoid valve tono avail.

have you checked the wiring on the pull switch? If the neon on that goes out i wouldn't blame the shower just yet

haven't checked the pull switch under load but the shower runs fine if put on cold and low heat its only when the shower dial goes on the normal heat settings does it cut out. don't no if this would make a difference worth a check though. thanks ;) .

TURN OFF THE POWER . . . and then,

open up the shower switch and pull it away gently from the ceiling.

cheers guys will check tomorrow. don't worry Steve am not wishing for a new hair style just yet, will ensure the power is off at the CU before attempting any wiring checks. cheers for the heads up though  im sure theres people out there that, would, just go sticking screw drivers in live aparatus.

i am wondering if its limescale build up in the heating part, it sounds like it may be because it comes on again at regular 30 second intervals

Have you checked you've got the right rated fuse/MCB for the wattage of your shower? & correct cable? either 1 or both of these could be the cause

Julez - I have to go out soon, but I can't wait for my return this evening when I'll be able to read your explanation of how a fuse could blow, or an MCB trip, or a cable melt, and then automatically replace/reset/repair itself 30 seconds later...

thanks for everyone's posts, well I had a look at the pull switch and the neutral shower side needed about half a turn of tight. there were no signs of any other probs, final check of all the other terminals and put ity back together. power back on pulled the switch and the neon came on at the pull cord but not at the shower. So think its the switch internals gonner get a new switch from B&Q and see. thanks 'mad' for the heads up about the switch in the first place. ;)
