Any ideas how this low profile shower trap comes apart? It needs a good scrub.

Does the middle part just pull out, unscrew, or twist to unlock. Or if the outer part unscrews first, does that require a special tool to get a purchase on those four tabs? All seems a bit tight otherwise.

The decorative chrome plastic cap - shown inverted - is just a push fit but sits snugly on top of those four tabs. This may help identification.

Installed about 12 years ago.

The inner cup is just catcher to catch hair and stuff from going down the waste, on some it takes the dip tube on the top to create the water seal but not sure on that one as the top doesn't really have a dip tube. The cup should just pull up and out. Then the outer section will just unscrew for the base underneath.

Unless you can get to the underside though, you need to be careful taking off the top as the bottom section may drop down and you may not be able to reconnect them.

Thx! The inner section is probably a bit gummed-up then.

"... the bottom section may drop down and you may not be able to reconnect them...." Now that would be a bad day!
