Shower extractor exhaust vent

Hi all,

A bit of a mistake has lead to the core I've drilled for our shower room extractor coming out in the box highlighted in orange.

I can remove the soffit underneath to be able to work in the box so that's not such an issue.

The guttering you can see goes to a water butt.

My question is would there be an issue if I ran the duct from the extractor fan, into the box then used an adaptor to get it down to 50mm then ran the end of that 50mm pipe into the guttering and then to the water butt.

My only concern is if the change from 120mm ducting to 50mm would cause the extractor to become ineffective and if i should stick to just coming straight out the end with it all in 120mm.

That's nearly 6x smaller area, the extractor will be useless.

Put a normal sized vent in the end of the box where the orange circle is, or underneath into the soffit board.
