Not a great start to the year, standing downstairs thinking "shower drain upstairs is loud today", then the dripping from the ceiling started - never good when water is dripping from the light fittings :(

Looks like the silicone around the shower tray has failed, and water has been going behind it. From the looks for it for a while. I suspect once the OSB got saturated, it may have compressed slightly, making the tray drop a little and therefore the issue even worse.

I've scraped out the old silicone and resiliconed today so that we can at least use the shower (only bathroom).

I'm pretty sure I know the answer but just sanity checking - I reckon the floor will need to come out and the OSB replaced, at least where it got saturated. Which means shower tray and vanity out. Can't see any way around it though. Thoughts?

OP,
You've done a good job of diagnosis. Yes, you will have to bite the bullet for an extensive repair - eg there could be joist damage below the OSB, and the leg of the door lining will need splicing-in or even replacing.
The shower surround will have to come out & be re-instated in the correct manner with correct silicon sealing.
The least amount of silicone is the best amount.
If the ceiling below is damaged then you could open up & work on re-fitting the waste from below?
I dont know your skills but it could be a stretch for a DIY'er - a problem would be time and an alternative shower arrangement.

What do you mean by sitting on the deck?
Lazy plumbers would rather (annoyingly) raise the tray, than work out a different way of dealing with the waste. It can be contentious however, based upon where the waste goes. Some just butcher the joists. It needs someone with a bit of nous to come up with a suitable plan.
