This is a shower valve that I think has faulty cartridge (water doesn't run hot). Can someone say what type/make of valve this is; whether replacement catridge will be available; and explain how I can get into the valve to remove the cartridge.

I don't recognise it - there are tons of brands in this style.
Quite likely, if it's not some weird Chinese imported thingy.
Remove the temperature control knob.
To remove the knob, look for a cosmetic cap on the end of the knob. If there is one, then remove it and you'll find a screw underneath.
If you shut off the supply and remove the cartridge, then you could:
a) post a picture of it here to see if anyone recognises the cartridge;
b) descale the cartridge using a glass full of 1:1 white vinegar and water.
