I`ve just moved into a house which has a shower enclosure in the bathroom my question is that the pull switch to operate the shower is inside the enclosure is this safe considering all the steam and water thats around.

My initial thought is to say it is not OK although this would depend on wether or not the area where the switch is being zone 0,1 or 2. In general, regardless of which zone the switch is in the switch must be suitable for the environment where it is installed.
