I have a new ST Monsoon regenerative universal shower pump recently installed. It supplies one shower or bath. My question is what happens when, after filling the bath for example you want to top up with hot water only? Cold water is still being pumped so what happens to it? Is there an internal bypass? Another example: what happens if you want a cold shower? The pumps must be designed for this situation but is it kinder to the pump to have both taps open, one full and the other just cracked?
The pump doesn't seem to mind but I noticed yesterday that it would turn itself off during full flow then on again while supplying hot only. While 'off' water continued to flow at a reasoable rate under gravity alone. The pulse rate of this phenomenon was about 3 - 4 seconds. Today I can't make it do this.
The old pump did not behave like this and was plumbed the same way. There is plenty of stored water, all about 12 feet above the pump.
Any ideas?
