Over the weekend I installed a twin-impellor shower pump.
It was installed as per the MF's instructions as close to the base of the hot water cylinder as possible, with a tee from the hot water supply below the tee for the vent pipe.
My only issue is that whenever another hot tap is turned on and then off, the pump fires up for a couple of seconds.
This (I think) is due to the water in the shower pipes running back through the pump and towards the open tap. When the tap is closed, the shower circuit gravity fills and the pump's flow switches activate.
Apart from the noise, could this be damaging the pump in anyway?
It isn't running dry as the head is flooded when it activates so I'm hoping it's OK.
If it isn't OK, would fitting a check-valve solve the problem? If so would it need to go on the inlet or outlet (I'm guessing inlet to keep the water in the pump stationary while the other taps are used) and can anyone recommend a decent check-valve for a shower pump as it will need to be as non-restrictive as possible.
