I'm about to plumb in a shower pump for my Dad and need a quick pointer: -

Shower pump is outside of bathroom (airing cupboard), and I'm going to use the old immersion heater circuit (no immersion heater anymore & the cabling's still in place (16A MCB on the CU, 2.5mm cable))

One half of me says "fit an RCD fused spur - there's water involved so better be safe". The other half says "fixed wiring, outside of bathroom = no need - fit a normal fused spur"

Which should I be plumping for?

Yada-yada-yada, part P blah-blah-blah

Although the regulations don't specify RCD protection, as you say being outside the bathroom, I and I'm sure many other electricians would still prefer to have RCD protection.
