Hi
We recently moved into a new house with a shower pump which on first look appeared to be dead, it gets power but doesn't kick in when hot water is on on shower (we dont get any hot out of shower even without pump), However we had a burst main near us last week so cold pressure was very low and miracuously and pump and hot water from shower worked !?

Any ideas as to why the cold pressure would affect the pump/hot feed to shower even though they are totally separate ?

There is a thermo mixer bar on shower fyi.

Hot and cold water supplies are not balanced (?).
Going to need details of what sort of boiler you have, where the hot & cold water comes from to feed the pump and what sort of pump you have.

Cold is mains fed which is fine but no hot ever comes through on the shower so it seems the pump is not sensing the hot water, however the pump is fed from the same pipe as the bath tap and hot comes out of the tap fine just not up to the shower.
Hot is fed from an imersion tank at around the same height as the pump, no idea on pump name (will find out) but it is single feed on the hot only.

OK can you advise as to why ? im not trying to plumb it in like this it was like this already

The thermostatic valve really needs the same pressure of hot & cold water supply, best way of doing this is with a twin headed pump with gravity supplies to it, cold from water tank and hot from cylinder via correct flange.

Shyte install. Look up pump make. Get hold of installation instructions and you will see how it should be installed and if that pump is even intended for use such as it has been installed in your system.
